Welcome back ----

The Westminster Police Department SRO’s want to welcome our students back to school!

Our SRO Unit consists of seven SROs and one supervisor, covering three separate  districts; Westminster Public Schools, Jefferson County and Adams 12. Westminster Public schools will begin school on Monday, August 15th, and Jefferson County and Adams County will follow on Tuesday, August 16th.

We hope our students, families and staff had a restful and rejuvenated summer.   Many of our SRO’s caught up on some well-deserved vacation time, honed-in on training while waiting patiently for the schools to fill up.

A few reminders….

Please remember to arrive early, dress appropriate, be nice to each-other, treat your teachers and staff with respect, be aware of your surroundings and most importantly have fun and make some new friends!

For those of you driving to school, please be safe. Keep your eyes on the road, limit all distractions in your car, and wear your seatbelts.

And most importantly, if you see or hear something, say something– not on social media – but report immediately to law enforcement, a teacher or school administrator all concerns. School administrators and law enforcement will sort out the validity. Together, we form a partnership that keeps our schools safe.

Our mission is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our children by cooperative efforts with school staff, students, parents, and guardians, along with our community. A goal of the SRO Program is to reduce juvenile crime by helping students formulate an awareness of roles, authority, and justice. SROs represent a proactive strategy designed to bring prevention and intervention into the schools, while fostering a positive relationship with law enforcement.

Welcome back students! Let’s have a safe and exciting school year making positive  memories!
