Today our participants attended their first day of teen academy. After being welcomed by WPD Interim Chief Haubert and Arvada Police Chief Strate, we took a class photo and then had an opportunity to do a team builder activity. Our teens had an Intro to Policing/ History of Policing class which led to a thoughtful group discussion with the SRO cadre. Everyone was given an in depth tour of our police department and then enjoyed a very generous lunch provided by Olive Garden. In the afternoon our teens were given a class by Dispatch Supervisor Emily Peek which generated a few possible employment inquires. Our teens were then presented with a uniform/ equipment/ typical day in the life class presented by Sgt. Smith. We finished the day with a presentation from Detectives with the North Metro Task Force.
