Commander Scott LaChance
Date: 09/11/2025
WESTMINSTER, Colo -- We can't believe we’re saying this, but Commander Scott LaChance is officially retiring after 30 years of dedicated service!
He began his career in public service with the United States Marine Corps (1984–1991) before joining the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in 1992. Commander LaChance found his home here at WPD in 1995 where he’s been an incredible leader, mentor and friend.
Over the years, Commander LaChance has left his mark on the department, serving as a Patrol Officer, Motor Officer, Field Training Officer, PSS Investigator, Training Coordinator, SWAT team member (17 years!), Sergeant and Commander.
In his retirement letter, Commander LaChance shared, "Words on paper cannot convey the level of gratitude and respect I have for all of the people, both sworn and professional staff, that I have worked with over my tenure here at the Westminster Police Department and the City of Westminster. I don’t believe in legacies personally. I only hope that my efforts to assist others with their career goals were beneficial in some way, just as many assisted me over the years."
Commander LaChance, thank you for your 3 decades of service, your leadership and the lasting impact you’ve had on this department. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement! We will miss you.
