WESTMINSTER, Colo -- A few weeks ago, Officer Porta responded to a call and contacted an individual experiencing homelessness. After recognizing the individual from prior encounters, Officer Porta appropriately advised him that he could not remain at the location. During the interaction, he noticed the man was wearing only slippers.
Without hesitation, Officer Porta returned to his patrol vehicle and retrieved a pair of tennis shoes (his former half-marathon shoes!) from a personal donation bag he keeps in his car to help those in need. A small gesture of kindness and compassion that truly went a long way.
