WESTMINSTER, Colo -- A 40-year-old woman is facing theft charges after using stolen credits cards.
On Jan. 19, around 3:45 p.m., WPD officers responded to a report of a wallet theft near 136th Ave & Huron St. The suspect vehicle was quickly located, but our thief had already gone shopping. Turns out the stolen credit cards weren’t quite working as they had hoped as several expensive purchases were declined. So the suspect pivoted to a budget-friendly lineup: McDonald’s, cigarettes, lighters, and batteries. Nice.
We found her shortly after. She admitted to stealing the wallet, attempting to use the cards, and ditching them nearby. All stolen property was recovered and returned to the rightful owner. As for the McDonald's order, it could not be returned and was given to a community member.
The 40-year-old woman was taken into custody for theft and identity theft. Keep your personal items close folks, especially when shopping!
It's important to note all persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
