BWC video of DUI arrest.

WESTMINSTER, Colo -- On Jan. 23, at about 5:15 p.m., a WPD traffic officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly in the area of City Center Dr and 93rd Ave. When contacting the driver, our officer immediately noticed the smell of alcohol. The driver denied consuming any alcohol, but agreed to perform voluntary roadside maneuvers ... and then he quickly changed his mind.
After placing him in handcuffs, he told officers there were kids hiding in the trunk. Sure enough, three kids were in the trunk. We'd like to point out it was also freezing temps outside during this stop. Luckily, the kids were unharmed. Several bottles of alcohol were also recovered from inside the vehicle.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving, failure to provide a valid insurance and three counts of child abuse, and transported to Adams County Jail. CPS was contacted and the kids were released to family.
It's important to note that all persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
