WESTMINSTER, Colo -- After 7 years of chasing bad guys, K9 Tom is officially retiring!
Tom, a Dutch Shepherd, joined WPD in 2019 and was partnered with Officer Johnson. Throughout his career, he was certified in patrol, tracking and narcotics detection.

K9 Tom by the numbers:
- 167 patrol deployments
- 51 narcotic deployments
- 41 surrenders
- 14 physical apprehensions
One of Tom's career highlights came in 2022 when he and Officer Johnson were awarded the Colorado Police Canine Association Patrol Case of the Year.
Now 9 years old, Tom has officially traded in patrol shifts for plenty of well-earned relaxation. Thank you, Tom, for your years of loyal service to our community. We will miss you out on the road!
