Chief Haubert, along with metro area police chiefs held a press conference today at the State Capitol to inform the public of the effects of HB 23-1249.  The bill, as written, would move all crimes committed by 10, 11 and 12-year-olds out of the juvenile court system, regardless of the charge, except for homicide.  If the juvenile does not follow through on recommendations of treatment, accountability would fall to social services, not the court.  The Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police, Sheriffs, and District Attorneys oppose HB 23-1249.
