Street racing and speeding are a concern throughout our community and metro wide. The Westminster Police Department is committed to working on these issues.  We are excited to announce in October 2023 we received the CDOT HSO (Colorado Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office) – Police Traffic Services grant to work on speed enforcement.  This grant will run through October of 2024 and provides officers the opportunity to work additional shifts focusing on speed concerns. We were also able to purchase ten new LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) devices for training and use by patrol officers.

In addition, the Westminster Police Department continues to work with the Adams County and metro wide street racing enforcement efforts. These groups focus on “group meet ups” and pass through activity in our cities.  Westminster Police have also worked with property managers at our large retail locations to issue trespass notices to car clubs who try to meet in large parking lots.  Our hope is this message gets out and car clubs choose other locations for their meet ups.

We want to encourage citizens to continue to report street racing concerns to reportstreetracing.com.

In addition, If you are concerned about a traffic issue in your neighborhood, you may report it online here, call 303-658-4335, or email jbeaudry@westminsterco.gov.
