It is our honor to announce Senior Police Officer Sean Chandler’s intent to retire on January 30, 2024. This date represents just over 25 years of loyal and dedicated service to the citizens of Westminster and nearly 30 years of law enforcement service. Sean began his law enforcement career in Cabell County, West Virginia, in 1993. In 1998 Sean’s family made the move to Colorado, in part due to the abundant outdoor activities in the state. During his tenure at Westminster PD Sean made substantial contributions as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Traffic Officer, and School Resource Officer. Sean was also awarded a Medal of Valor, Meritorious Service Medal, and a Purple Heart.
Sean earned the nickname “Big Country” in part due to his southern roots and his 6’4” height, no one quite remembers the full story, but the nickname stuck. Two years ago, Sean re-connected with an acquaintance from high school and they’ve blended their two families. They plan on returning to West Virginia where Sean can enjoy the outdoors; fly fishing and hunting.
Sean said “We’ve loved our time here but are looking forward to getting back to our roots. Country Roads Take Me Home!”
Best of luck Sean, Thank you for your service!
