*** PRESS RELEASE - UPDATE - ARREST MADE IN WEEKEND HOMICIDE ***

Date – April 1, 2024

Late Sunday evening, Westminster Police arrested August Alonzo Romero, 40 years old, on the charge of:

Murder in the First Degree – Cause Injury with Deadly Weapon.

Mr. Romero will be housed at the Adams County Detention Facility.

Please note we are no longer looking for the older model white/tan 2dr car.

Police have identified the registered owner of the black truck; however, we are still looking for the black pickup truck Co License plate/EEIA89.

You can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 720 913 7867, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $2000.00.

This is still an ongoing investigation and we will not be releasing any additional information.

It should be noted all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Date – March 31, 2024

On March 30, 2024 at approximately 10:18 pm, the Westminster Police Department responded to a disturbance where a victim had been struck by a vehicle in the area of Alcott Street and Zuni Street.

When officers arrived in the area, they located an adult male victim who had been struck by a vehicle. The male victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect who hit the victim with his vehicle fled prior to officers arriving on scene. The initial investigation has revealed there was a disturbance with the involved parties when the suspect intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle.

We are currently looking for the below suspect vehicle:

Dodge Ram
Black in color
Chrome wheels
Large circular sticker on the driver’s back window
Pole sticking up from truck bed
Truck bed work box
Unknown plate

We also believe the below vehicle may be associated to the suspect and have witnessed the disturbance and have valuable information to the crime.

Older model
2-Door
Possibly white and tan colored
Lowered with aftermarket rims

The identity of the male victim will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
