Thermal imaging detects suspects hiding in attic

Date: 07/14/2025

WESTMINSTER, Colo -- When it comes to hiding from police, we've seen just about everything, and this case was no exception. Last week, #WPD was tracking an armed robbery suspect with several felony warrants. The search led officers to an apartment near the 500 block of W 123rd Ave where the suspect attempted to hide in the attic.

He wasn’t alone. Two others joined him, likely because they also had outstanding warrants. Our SWAT team responded and used thermal imaging to located the suspects, safely taking all three into custody. Another individual at the scene, also wanted on warrants, was taken into custody.

In addition to their felony warrants, the three suspects hiding in the attic are now facing additional charges, including:

  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • Refusing to Leave the Premises

We don't tolerate this type of behavior in our city and will continue to do everything we can to hold those victimizing our community accountable.

*It should be noted all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
