Traffic stop leads to drug discovery, arrests

WESTMINSTER, Colo -- Three people are in custody following a traffic stop early Thursday morning.

Around 2 a.m., on April 2, a WPD officer pulled over a driver with no license plate near 123rd Ave and Huron St. When contacting the vehicle occupants, the officer immediately saw drug paraphernalia inside and smelt what appeared to be an odor of burned fentanyl. Further investigation revealed lots of drugs inside the vehicle including more than 290 grams of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl pills, electronics, money and drug paraphernalia.

Officers took a 27-year-old man, 33-year-old woman and 25-year-old man in custody. They're facing several charges to include:

  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
  • Unlawful Dist/Mfg/Disp/Sale
  • Vehicle had no number plates attached
  • Failed to provide valid insurance upon request

It's important to note all persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
