With Mark Cressman recently promoting to Sergeant, K9 Bono has been retired. K9 Bono was set to retire this year, as this was his 6th year of service.
We want to thank Mark for his over 12 years of service with the K9 unit. His dedication and professionalism were definitely noticed and will be missed.
K9 Bono started his career with the Westminster Police department in November of 2017. K9 Bono completed a 12-week academy and was trained in patrol, tracking, narcotics and evidence recovery.
Over his career K9 Bono worked with several different groups to include; patrol, SET, SWAT, the drug task force and the US Postal service.
K9 Bono completed over 2000 hours of training throughout his career. He was directly involved in numerous public educational demonstrations.
K9 Bono was deployed over 300 times in patrol functions and had 43 apprehensions and 80 surrenders, 11 of which were homicide suspects.
It is easy to see that K9 Bono has served both his fellow officers and the citizens of Westminster with great pride and dedication, all for his favorite toy.
K9 Bono will retire with Mark at his residence. We wish Bono the best in his retirement and thank him for his service.
