WESTMINSTER, Colo -- Please read and share this information about some common scams.

Scam #1: Pop-Up Message Scam
You may receive a pop-up message on your computer claiming your phone or computer has been hacked and is involved in a crime. The scammer will provide a phone number and urge you to wire money, buy gift cards or send Bitcoin to avoid legal consequences. DO NOT trust the message or the number. Legitimate companies will never contact you through random pop-ups or demand immediate payment. If you're concerned, contact your bank or law enforcement directly using verified contact information (not the number the scammer provided).

Scam #2: Fake Toll Texts
Scammers are sending fake text messages about unpaid tolls. These texts often include a suspicious link. DO NOT click on any links or respond to the message. Instead, visit the official websites for toll agencies like E-470 or ExpressToll to verify your account or contact their customer service directly.

Scam #3: Romance Scam
Scammers may pose as romantic partners on social media or dating apps, especially targeting older adults. They build trust over time and then ask for money under false pretenses. Never send money to someone you haven’t met! It doesn't work out well, trust us.

Also, be aware of scammers posing as hiring agents or property owners, especially in job offers and rental listings.
