Lookout Alert emergency system test on June 3 sends text, email, voice, and wireless alerts to Clear Creek, Jefferson, Broomfield, and Westminster residents.
Date: 06/01/2026
WESTMINSTER, Colo -- On Wednesday, June 3, beginning in the morning, Westminster will be part of a regional emergency alerts test. Testing these systems helps ensure we can quickly reach our community when real emergencies occur.
Be sure you are ready to receive the alerts with a few simple steps:
Lookout Alert - Westminster’s localized opt-in system, with alerts from Westminster Police and Fire
- Receive critical alerts through text, phone calls, and email – whether you are home or not!
- Registration required at: www.LookoutAlert.co
Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) - Push alerts sent directly to cell phones in a specific geographic area
- Often used for large-scale evacuation orders or weather emergencies
- No sign-up required, but ensure that Emergency Alerts are enabled in your phone settings
Not every person will receive every type of alert during the test. Delivery may depend on device settings, wireless carrier participation, phone location, registration information, and other technical factors. Receiving or not receiving this test does not necessarily mean a phone or account is not working. This system-wide test will be in Westminster, Broomfield, Jefferson County, and Clear Creek County.
We encourage you to use this opportunity to confirm you are signed up for local emergency alerts, whether you live in Westminster or elsewhere!
